Being a Boston artist can mean a lot of different things, and Music by Mandi is influenced in a large way by boston songwriters and boston aritsts. We wanted to take some time to thank those influences and identify where we get some of our inspiration from. Some of the following are local boston songwriters, singers, and performers who we love to listen to, in order to gain inspiration and dive into what it means to be a Boston Artist.

1. Dispatch

Mandi Crimmins' brother is a HUGE fan of Dispatch and it would be remiss not to mention them in a discussion about boston songwriters. They have some great folk/reggae original recordings and they are very lively performers as well. The truly define what it means to be a Boston artist. 

2. James Taylor

How can James Taylor NOT be mentioned in a boston songwriter discussion. He truly is one of the greats and has put out some amazing ad impactfuls songs. Mandi's mother grew up in the James Taylor era, and his music is truly amazing. He is one of the greatest in terms of a boston songwriter.

3. Boston

Well DUH right?! Boston was a huge influence on music during the 70s and 80s and have put out some truly iconic songs and not to mention thrilling performances. Their music can be heard widely still today in advertising and stadiums, and in large part on the radio. 

4. The Dropkick Murphys

They have become synonomous with Boston and are distinctively the definition of what it means to be a Boston songwriter. Whether it is during Red Sox games, or being played on the radio, the Dropkick Murphys are great performers and are a major influence to anyone songwriting, singing, or performing in the Boston area.
